Energy Cultivation With Qi Gong Stretches

Qi Gong is the Chinese art of energy cultivation using breathing and stretching exercises to maintain health, good circulation and mental peace of mind. There are over 3,300 known variations of the art of Qi Gong, but all forms of the exercise center around the idea that the body has an energy field nurtured by the natural respiration of the human body, and this respiration is commonly called qi in Chinese health and meditative communities. In Mandarin Chinese, the word qi means breath or gas, referencing the energy field and the body's relationship to it through breathing methods. Gong means work or technique, which describes the body's means by which it poses and stretches in attempts to build energy and maintain health through the breathing patterns. In Western cultures, the methods employed by qi gong students is used primarily for meditation and stress reduction.
