Beginning Ballroom Dancing Tips

The term ballroom dancing refers to a set of partnered dance routines that can be practiced for entertainment, personal enjoyment or even competitive reasons. The waltz, foxtrot, tango, cha-cha and most variations of swing dance are all considered ballroom, and recent years have seen a sharp growth in the popularity of such dances. Most ballroom dances are more than a collection of well-orchestrated steps between partners, however. Posture, body frame, syncopation, speed, connection and even grooming and attire play a role in a dance team's impression up on their audience. In competitions, judges take all of these conditions and more into account, rating the dancers as a pair, not unlike professional figure skating duos.

In this free video clip series, our expert will discuss some popular types of ballroom dances, including foxtrot and the Rumba. Learn secrets of ballroom dancing, tips and instructions on steps and holds, demonstrations of each of the dances for men and for women and much more.
