Abalone is a two person board game requiring superior strategic thinking skills and an eye for detail. The game, which is played on a hexagon-shaped board consisting of 61 circular indentions for marbles, is sometimes referred to as Sumo wrestling for marbles . The game is relatively simple, requiring players to push his or her opponent's marbles to the edge of the board. The rules of the game are easy to digest and the game is played quickly and briskly. The idea is to think on your feet and maneuver the marbles quickly making your opponent also have to judge his or her next move quickly to stay in the game. It is possible to play Abalone with three players, but requires a third color of marble. There are many variations of the game, and most are as simple to learn as the primary one.
