Advanced Hula Dancing Tips
The Hula is a dance that originated in Hawaii and is accompanied by chants or music. These dances are made up of hand and hip movements that symbolize words and tell stories to the audience. The music is usually happy and the colors of the costumes are bright and open. There are two types of hula. Kahiko is the ancient form of the dance that is accompanied by chants and Auana is danced to music. Although there are several instruments used the ukulele is the primary instrument of the Hawaiian culture and of the dance.
