A Parents Guide to Homework: Tips for Helping Your Child

Homework: it's been a four-letter-word to many school children for decades. For the most part, kids and homework have lived on opposite sides of the fence because of the inevitable change in environment that takes place from the classroom to the living room. When a child takes an assignment home, they're moving from a good study environment, conducive to learning, to a place usually devoid of a quiet workspace, full of wonderful electronic distractions, and with no teacher in sight.

It s no surprise, then, that homework takes a measure of discipline; a change in environment has probably created a change in attitude. Kids need parents' support to help get them on the right track to academic success. Parents have to partner with teachers to continue the educational process from the classroom to the home, helping kids become lifelong learners.

In this free online guide, learn tips on helping your student get the most out of homework, including techniques to promote positive study habits. Lessons include: how to pick a designated study area, supervising your child during homework, developing reading readiness skills, doing online research, eliminating distractions, test prep review, and more.
